# The Pilgrim's Process

An allegory for the age of interpretation — a pilgrim's progress through
the country of meaning, for anyone who has ever wondered what the Book
actually says.

*The Pilgrim's Process* is a 20-chapter allegory by **Andrew J. Belcher**.

> "Men go to the Book to find themselves, so they hang a mirror where
> the window ought to be." — Sola-Scriptura, herald (Chapter One)

## The story

Self-Reader is the best Polisher in Mine-Own-Meaning, a city of glass
where every Bible is silvered so its reader sees himself behind the
words. Then a stranger leaves a black-boarded Book on his bench, and
when he scrapes away its tarnish he finds letters that will not reflect
him at all. Struck from the city's register, renamed Inquirer, he sets
out for the City of the Word — through the Kneeling Stair, the House of
the Copyists, the Ferry of Tongues, and the rest of the road.
